Latin American Showcase

Nine countries and 21 titles make up this year's Latin American Showcase, representing the power of the region's cinema in a variety of themes and worldviews that reverberated at major international festivals, such as Cannes, Tribeca, Guadalajara, Clermont-Ferrand, Buenos Aires, Rotterdam.

Among the highlights, are the beautiful journeys of memory portrayed in documentaries that investigate local cultures, great historical traumas and even the history of our Latin American cinematheques, with their mishaps and perseverance.

Within a more intimate register, there are also narratives that explore family relationships, self-image, religious beliefs, and social shocks in works that vary in subtlety and expressiveness – both in fiction and in the intense animations that make up the selection.

Get ready for a journey that will take you through the mountains of Bariloche and southern Peru, through the sea of Cuba and 17th century Mexico, in a rich and deep dive into the dreams and realities of Latin America.
